Michael Woods Haslett was born at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and spent his early years in London. He was evacuated to Montreal in 1940, returning to the UK in 1944. He then did house jobs at the Middlesex and Ipswich hospitals and obstetrics and gynaecology at Manchester Royal Infirmary before starting in general practice in Poulton-le-Fylde in 1959.
