Tesla Dodges 30-Day Suspension in California After Removing Autopilot

California’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has decided not to suspend Tesla’s license to sell vehicles in the state for 30 days, as initially threatened, after the electric vehicle manufacturer removed its Autopilot driver-assistance system from its vehicles.

The decision comes a month after Tesla discontinued Autopilot, its basic driver-assistance system, citing a lack of regulatory clarity and a desire to focus on more advanced features.

Tesla’s move sparked concerns among regulators and safety advocates, who argued that the removal of Autopilot could compromise the safety of Tesla’s vehicles on the road.
