Hazardous Substances Found In All Headphones Tested By ToxFREE Project
Headphones are a ubiquitous part of modern life, used for work, play, relaxation, and even exercise. However, a recent investigation by the ToxFREE Project has found that every single pair of headphones tested contained hazardous substances, including chemicals that can cause cancer, neurodevelopmental problems, and the feminization of males.
The Investigation
The ToxFREE Project purchased 81 pairs of in-ear and over-ear headphones from various sources, including online marketplaces like Shein and Temu, and took them for laboratory analysis. The researchers tested for a range of harmful chemicals, including bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol S (BPS), phthalates, chlorinated paraffins, and brominated and organophosphate flame retardants.
The Findings
