The Nuffield Trust, a renowned think tank, has conducted an in-depth analysis of the real terms earnings of doctors and other healthcare groups in the UK. The study, which spanned 14 years from 2011 to 2025, revealed a stark reality: consultants’ and resident doctors’ real terms earnings fell more sharply than the average drop across the public sector.
