<2>Google and Accel India Accelerator’s Atoms Cohort Focuses on Diverse Startups
Google and Accel India accelerator have announced their Atoms cohort, which comprises five startups. Notably, none of these startups are ‘AI wrappers.’
According to reports, Google and Accel reviewed over 4,000 applications for the Atoms cohort. During this process, they observed that about 70% of AI startup pitches were essentially ‘wrappers.’
These ‘wrappers’ refer to startups that do not create entirely new AI technologies but instead integrate existing AI tools into their products or services. While these integrations can be useful, they do not bring about significant innovation in the AI space.
The Atoms cohort, on the other hand, focuses on startups that are pushing the boundaries of innovation in various sectors. The selected startups are expected to receive support and resources from Google and Accel to help them grow and scale their businesses.
Some of the key areas where the Atoms cohort is focusing include healthcare, education, and sustainability. These sectors have the potential to drive significant positive change in society, and the selected startups are expected to make a meaningful impact in these areas.
