European retailers have taken the unprecedented step of halting sales of popular headphones following a study that discovered the presence of hormone-disrupting chemicals in several leading brands. The study, which was funded by the European Union, found that headphones from Apple, Beats, Samsung, Bose, JBL, and Sennheiser contained chemicals that have been linked to potential health risks.
The study, which was conducted by a team of researchers from the European Chemicals Agency, analyzed over 100 different headphones from various manufacturers. The results showed that many of the headphones contained chemicals such as PFAS, phthalates, and bisphenol A (BPA), which have been linked to hormone disruption and other health problems.
